Unibet to host biggest ever online event in May

London, UK – March 13, 2020 – The Unibet Open poker tour has announced that, in response to
increasing concerns about Coronavirus and associated restrictions on travel, the forthcoming Unibet
Open Tallinn in May will now be held online. Players have welcomed Unibet’s decision not to postpone
the event or cancel it altogether and said the decision to move it online would enable hundreds of
players to take part regardless of any travel difficulties or lockdowns.

Unibet Ambassador David Lappin said: “Coronavirus is having an adverse effect on so many scheduled
events worldwide, but we’re really delighted that Unibet Open will still effectively be going ahead, but
online instead of “IRL”. It means everyone can take part, even if they are in a country where travel is
tricky. We’re still “all in” for this online event and I’ll be giving my best shot at winning a first title!”
The live version of Unibet Open was scheduled to take place May 20-24. The event will now be held
online on Unibet Poker from May 24 -25 and comes with an impressive €100,000 guarantee. All players
who have already qualified are eligible to play the online stop or can push their qualification to a later
2020 Unibet Open if they wish. For players who have won a €2,000 package will receive the remaining
value paid out in bonus points. The €1,100 buy-in, €250 cash paid and an additional €650 paid in bonus
points that players can use to buy online tickets.
Satellites for Unibet Open Online are running now with numerous chances to qualify. With daily
satellites, and qualifiers from all levels – players can start to qualify from as low as cents. There will be
daily satellites where players can qualify for the €6,600 GTD Sunday Final, or buy-in for €250. The
Sunday qualifier will take place at 8pm CET.
Unibet Ambassador Dara O’Kearney added: “Obviously it’s disappointing that we won’t get to visit
Tallinn in person but player health and safety is paramount and at least we’re still going to have a
cracking tournament to compete in. This will actually be the largest buy-in online tournament that
Unibet has ever hosted so there’s a lot to get excited about – especially the €100,000 guarantee!”
In addition to the Unibet Open Online Main Event, which features a €1,050 + €50 buy-in, the €100 +
€10 Mini ME will also be taking place. This new event mirrors the Main Event with all players receiving
a generous 30,000 starting stack. Full details for the online schedule and structures will be released
shortly.

Unibet prides itself on being part of Kindred Group, an all-digital company working solely on digital
platforms, showing that they can operate business as usual due to their digital core. Allowing
something as big as The Unibet Open to still go ahead in these corona-times.

Nataly Sopacuaperu, Unibet's Head of Events, said: “We’ve taken a bold step in deciding to host Unibet
Open online and we are expecting a huge number of players to take part. With concerns about
Coronavirus hampering travel for so many people, we wanted to do something really positive for
players and make sure as many can participate in the event as possible. There will still be trophies for
the winners of the Main Event and Mini ME and we’ll be creating a lot of fun around the event including
building up excitement on the live stream. We also hope a lot of Estonian players will join us for the
event – and even take it down on “home soil”.
